Global Social Impact

Amplying the voices of the unheard.

The noble drive to help those in need might come out as abstract in this big and broken world of ours screaming for so many needs to be fulfilled, but it doesn’t have to be. As a local church, we have built partnerships to together outwork the cause of justice.

With a range of initiatives and partnerships, making a difference is no longer a mere notion. Our focus is to implement tangible actions with measurable impacts toward vulnerable groups in our local communities and the world.

Every month, Atmosphere (@ccatmosphere) and Atmosphere Impact (@atmosphereimpact) raises awareness and funds for a specific global social justice cause that God has put in the hearts of our Pastors and Leaders. In line with our mission to educate our generation on current global social justice issues, @atmosphereimpact will post various infographics, stories and videos to enlighten us on a specific cause, and invite us to raise funds for the cause.

This Month’s Cause: Global Refugee Crisis

For the months of February and March we will focus on raising awareness for the global refugee crisis and in partnership with CC Helping Hands and New Hope Refugee Ministry (NHRM), we have launched the Refugee Sponsorship Program. Read more about it below.

Many may have heard about the refugees that live in the midst of us. But many don’t fully understand the urgency of hearing their voices and help. Many want to offer help but don’t have the means to.

In light of raising awareness, Atmosphere Impact & CC Helping Hands will have an online seminar where we will learn more about the misconceptions and sustainable solutions in helping refugees here in Indonesia.

Refugee Sponsorship Program

“Foreigners living among you will be like your own people. Love them as you love yourself…”
– Leviticus 19:34 (GNT)

Refugees are individuals who are forced to flee their country because of persecution, war or violence. A majority of them come from Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, and Iraq — where their lives were endangered, their freedoms jeopardised and their human rights violated.

There are over 13,653 refugees – commonly referred to as “Pengungsi” or “Pencari Suaka” – living in Indonesia. Without any permit to work, or conduct any income generating activities, they are unable to access public services, housing, education and healthcare; and are solely relying on donations to survive.

They are in desperate need of our help – and we have the power to make a change! In collaboration with CC Helping Hands and our partner New Hope Refugees Ministry (NHRM), we are introducing the Refugee Sponsorship Program.

The Refugee Sponsorship Program aims to provide a sustainable way of supporting refugees that are not yet funded by international organisations. Sponsors will have the opportunity to support a refugee family or individual to meet their basic needs.

Sponsors may choose to sponsor them for a committed period of time or as a one-off donation. All funds will be managed by Atmosphere Impact and distributed to refugees by New Hope Refugees Ministry (NHRM). Monthly reports will be provided to sponsors with a chance of exchanging letters, photos, and prayers with their sponsored refugee(s) too.

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

Should you have any other questions, please feel free to contact our team at info@atmosphereimpact.com.

Can I connect with the refugee(s) I sponsored?

Please contact our team to communicate with your sponsored refugee(s). We would gladly connect you with them. However, we encourage you to not try finding your sponsored refugee(s) online to ensure that both parties’ privacies are protected.

Does my sponsorship directly go to the refugee(s) I sponsored?

As a sponsor, you are connected with one specific individual/family. However, sponsored individuals/families do not receive the funds directly. All sponsorship amounts received will be transferred to New Hope Refugees Ministry (NHRM) as our partnering organization who will further manage and minister to the refugees.

Are these refugees real? Do others sponsor the same refugees?

Each individual/family of refugee is matched with only one sponsor. They are real people with real stories. As sponsors, you have the privilege to connect with them through text messages, photos, even direct visitation (in accordance with the health protocols).

What is Atmosphere Impact’s Refugee Sponsorship Program? How does it work?

Refugee Sponsorship Program aims to provide a sustainable way of supporting refugees that are not yet funded by international organisations.

How long does the sponsorship’s commitment last?

Sponsors may choose to sponsor the refugee(s) for one, three, six, or twelve months.

How much does it cost to sponsor a refugee?

Sponsorship would amount to Rp. 1,500,000 per month for individuals and Rp. 2,500,000 per month for families. Because these refugees have not been funded by international or national organisations, they would have to fund everything on their own. With this amount of money, it’ll help cover rent, food, living expenses (clothes, toiletries, etc), and emergency medical/dental support.

Can I send money directly to my sponsored refugee?

We encourage you to not send the monthly sponsorship gift or any cash directly to any refugees. Please contact us should you want to give a special monetary gift for your sponsored refugee(s).

What will my monthly sponsorship gift be used for?

The refugee(s) you have chosen to sponsor has no other financial support to provide for their needs. All the funds will be used mainly for housing, food, and other basic necessities. As for other expenses, like healthcare, labor, and other unexpected expenses, we rely on the help of other potential donors and partnering organizations.

Where do the refugees live?

The refugees registered in this sponsorship program reside in Jakarta and Tangerang. For privacy reasons, their exact location will not be stated.
